That's right, I'm rewriting Red's Heart and finishing the Red Trilogy.
I'm not changing the story, but am updating the writing style and some of the language used in the narrative.
Why Am I Rewriting?
I was 21 when I wrote Red's Heart. It wasn't the first story I'd written, but it was the first one I'd let people read. I brought it to my writing group and even sent it to a beginner editor.
The issue is, I didn't know what I was doing back then. I used one editor who was just starting and didn't focus on a particular type of edit. I was also a newer writer, and though I had a strong voice, I hadn't developed my style.
After re-reading the story, I've also found that there are missing words and clunky passages that would not match my current style if I were to come back and finish the trilogy now.
I want to finish this series, but between the lack of proper editing and the outdated writing style, I don't feel right finishing the series as it sits right now.
Will the cover stay the same?
No. I have made many mockups for the new covers using Canva, but I am intending to hire a cover artist for the ebook covers of Red's Heart and the two sequels, as well as a paperback omnibus cover.
What does this mean for the series going forward?
I do not currently have a release date planned for this series, as I have other books that are on the front burner, but I would like these books out by September 2028.
